The world-building is intricate and detailed, and the characters are generally compelling and relatable. I say generally because the protagonist, Alexandra, drove me nuts. She is prissy and self-centered, and she hardly seems like the person to find and join the lost archangels. However, it is a great testament to the book, the writing, and the author that I can be annoyed by such a central character, but still love the story and feel compelled to read on. The books are full of secrets and mysteries and questions. Who are all the characters? Which archangels have we met? How is Alexandra going to fulfill God's plan?
